It’s All About the Uke, Hawaiian Culture, Art Experiences, Music and More!

Uka-PALOOZA! Florida is a first-ever ukulele festival at the 122-year-old Florida State Fair in Tampa presented by the Florida State Fair and the Tampa Bay Ukulele Society (TBUS), the biggest uke club in the state with more than 2,200 online members. (Facebook: Tampa Bay Ukulele Club; Meet-up:

We’re strummin’ our cares away…

  • 50 ukuleles available to test drive at the beginner workshops
  • Featuring Regional ukulele bands & musicians
  • Hawaiian culture shared by Hui Na Aikane O Hawaii
  • Create family arts & crafts with SHAMc (Safety Harbor Arts & Music Center)
  • The Amateur SPAM-Off … cooking contest
  • The Annual Hibiscus Flower Show
  • Ukes etc.
The day ends with a Night Concert with legendary uke master James Hill and Opening Act The Barnkickers (separate ticket admission required)

Walk-in registration starts at 10:15am. 50 tuned loaner ukes provided – first come, first served. Seating for 200. Children must be 8 years and older and accompanied by an adult.

1:30 - 2:00pm Special Appearance by CMA’s 2017 Emerging Artist Jessica Rose on the Main Stage followed by 2:00-2:30pm Meet-and-Greet at the Luna Tent presented by Luna

2:10 - 2:45pm The Hawaiian Show Sharing the Ukulele Love!

Performances By: Ty Olopai, Mapuana Ebbitts and Didi McFadden, Sounds of Aloha and Noelani Tagarelli, Royal Polynesian Revue, presented by Mikeys Aloha Shirts and TBUS

3 - 3:45pm Tampa Bay Ukulele Society (TBUS) Jammers: Ukers who lead TBUS jams throughout Tampa Bay have selected their favorite songs for this jammers’ jam! Music projected on screens.
Audience players must have their own ukes.

Family Fun, SHAMc ARTreach Experience


10:00am - 3:00pm Ukulele Petting Zoo with Tampa Bay Ukulele Society
Here’s your chance to “meet” the family of ukes: Soprano, concert, tenor and baritone, learn two chords and play a simple song.

10:00am - 3:00pm The SHAMc ARTreach Experience
Arts and crafts with the creative folks from the Safety Harbor Arts and Music Center. Activities include: Color Me a Uke, making mosaics and public art activity hanging SHAMdeliers.

10:00am - 3:00pm The Hawaiian Corner
Learn about the Hawaiian culture and how a vibrant island community and culture came to Florida because of Disney World! Our teachers are Linda Dyer and her hula friends and ohana (family), Hui Na Aikane O Hawaii. Visitors to this corner at Uka-PALOOZA! will be treated to a lei-making journey using different materials, hear storytelling, drumming, learn about Hawaiian customs and history and get a taste of hula dancing. The Hawaiian Corner is for all families!

The Annual Hibiscus Flower Show

The Sunset Chapter of the American Hibiscus Society brings its colorful annual event this year to the Special Events Center’s Uka-PALOOZA! The club with more than 50 years of experience growing blooms will display 250+ of their members’ finest! Judging is at 2pm, followed by a $1-a-flower sale for wahines (women) and kānes (men).
