Each year the Florida State Fairgrounds, one of Central Florida’s premier events and entertainment venues, host more than 300 events, concerts, equestrian shows and exhibitions. Events include, the annual Florida State Fair, consumer trade shows, equestrian events, festivals and more.
The 330-acre Fairgrounds in Tampa attracts approximately 1.5 million visitors each year, including more than 400,000 to the annual Fair. Economic impact studies conducted by the Center for Economic Development at the University of South Florida reported the annual economic impact of the Fairgrounds is greater than that of the Outback Bowl and Gasparilla combined.
Operated by the not-for-profit Florida State Fair Authority (FSFA) and overseen by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and its 21 member Board of Directors, the Fairgrounds has built a national reputation for combining commercial success with a mission driven commitment to agriculture, education and community service. $1.5 million of its annual operating budget supports activities that promote agriculture and education programs and each year the FSFA awards $400,000 in scholarships, premiums, grants, savings bonds and cash to deserving students.
Although the FSFA is an instrumentality of the state of Florida, it does not receive any annual tax appropriations from the City of Tampa, Hillsborough County or the State of Florida.
