WHAT'S HAPPENING IN JULY AT THE FLORIDA STATE FAIRGROUNDS

[NEWS RELEASE] TAMPA, FL. - July 2, 2009.  The summer heats up with a variety of spectacular events taking place on the Fairgrounds property near the corner of I-4 and U.S. Highway 301 in eastern Hillsborough County. A brief listing of July's events is provided below followed by a detailed event description.
  • July 4: Discover the Past - Independence Day (CANCELLED!)
  • July 9-11: Florida State 4-H Horse Show
  • July 11: Concert - Aerosmith with ZZ Top
  • July 18-19: Southeast Hunter Jumper Horse Show
  • July 25: Concert - Rascal Flatts with Darius Rucker
  • July 31-August 2: Super Liquidation Sale

[SPECIAL NEWS ALERT ] -- Event CANCELLED for July 4: Discover the Past.
Cracker Country will be closed on Saturday, July 4 due to extreme flooding of the area

Rip Stalvey, Museum Director for Cracker Country, notes that "Due to the flooding we experienced in Cracker Country recently, and with more rain expected between now and Saturday we have decided to not open as planned on Saturday, July 4th.  Fortunately water has not entered any of our buildings at this point. After evaluating our situation we don't believe the grounds will be sufficiently dry for us to open to the public by Saturday."  The monthly Discover the Past program will resume in August, as regularly scheduled, on the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (except in February). July 9-11: Florida State 4-H Horse Show
Nearly 300 individuals from around the state will compete at the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center for the opportunity to be one of the 42 representing Florida at the Southern Regional 4-H Horse Championships. The three-day competition begins at 8 a.m. each day and culminates on Saturday with awards presented to individuals from each major division. Entry fees and stall charges may apply for participants. Please inquire with the show office for a schedule of performance times for each day. Admission and parking are free for spectators. Participants and visitors should enter the Fairgrounds via the Orient Road entrance.   Admission and parking are free for spectators. July 11: Concert - Aerosmith with ZZ Top
Aerosmith will perform in concert, with special guest ZZ Top, on Saturday, July 11 at the Ford Amphitheatre. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; the concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $175, $89.50 and $59.50 for reserved seating, $35 for lawn area seating, and $99 for a 4-pack of lawn tickets. The lawn area is general admission; no specific area is assigned for seating. There will be a parking fee and service charge added to the price of each ticket. All dates, times, and acts are subject to change or cancel without notice. Rain or shine. Tickets to all Ford Amphitheatre events can be purchased in person at the Ford Amphitheatre Box Office or online exclusively at http://www.livenation.com/. July 18-19: Southeast Hunter Jumper Horse Show
The Southeast Hunter Jumper (SEHJ) Association will host a two-day horse competition held in the Gran Prix Ring and Pony Ring at the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center.  The show starts at 8 a.m. each day.  Competitions will be held in hunter and jumper divisions for children and adult categories with prizes to be awarded.  Entry fees vary based on the entry category.  Participants must pre-register and fees must be paid with entry submission.  Admission and parking are free for spectators.  Participants and visitors should enter the Fairgrounds via the Orient Road entrance.  For more information, visit online http://www.sehj.com/ or call Eric Lavin at 352-797-7469 prior to the event. July 25: Concert - Rascal Flatts with Darius Rucker
Rascal Flatts will perform in concert with special guest Darius Rucker on Saturday, July 25 at the Ford Amphitheatre. The gates will open at 7 p.m. and the concert begins at 8 p.m. Ticket prices are $75.75 for reserved seating, $35.25 for lawn area seating and $99 for a 4-pack of lawn tickets. July 31-August 2: Super Liquidation Sale
A three-day general merchandise sale will take place inside the Charles M. Davis Special Events Center. Event hours are Friday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults, children ages 12 and younger are admitted free. Parking is $5 per car or $10 per RV or bus for each time a vehicle enters the grounds. Visitors should enter the Fairgrounds via the M.L.K., Jr. Blvd. entrance. OTHER FAIRGROUNDS NEWS:  The 2010 Florida State Fair will take place on February 4-15, 2010 for twelve consecutive days. Vendor space applications for the next Florida State Fair are now available online at http://www.floridastatefair.com/vendor-application. All applicants are advised to print, complete and send in their applications immediately as space is limited for new vendors!

The Florida State Fair Authority is a non-profit organization which operates primarily from revenues generated from the annual State Fair and other ongoing operations during the year.  Presently, the FSFA does not receive any state tax appropriations from Hillsborough County, City of Tampa, nor the State of Florida.  The FSFA operates the Florida State Fairgrounds year-round in association with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.  Agriculture Commissioner Charles H. Bronson leads the Fair Authority Board, which oversees the Florida State Fairgrounds and the annual Florida State Fair.
